• I’m using the child theme and have some custom css in the style.css file. I’ve also customized the theme using the options in the theme customizer but all settings in the theme customizer got wiped out. It’s back to default. What happened??!

I’d like to add that I don’t see a way to export the theme settings. I assume the developer hid that option for the free tier which is just absurd. I hope I’m wrong and I just missed this option somewhere.

It appears the developer has a separate plugin (free) for exporting/importing the settings.

    Hi @the988,

We have actually created a plugin that’ll allow you to export/import or reset your customizer settings.

Have you switched from the main theme to a child theme recently? If that’s the case, theme styles, etc. are not taken over automatically. That’s where our plugin comes handy. It’ll allow you to export the customizer settings, then switch to a child-theme & import them again.

    Hi David,

I had a child theme installed from the start. Later, I found your export/import plugin only after I was hours into customizing the theme and then they all got wiped. I created custom CSS code and have that in the child’s style.css sheet but where are the customizer theme settings stored locally? Can a caching plugin wipe them out?

A caching plugin shouldn’t be able to wipe that data. It’s stored in the database.

I’m really sorry that that happened to you – we never actually had someone report a similar issue so I’d assume that’s something specific to your installation and not an issue with the core theme or add-on. We don’t remove any data on uninstall by default.

What happened to me the other day was, that I tested something and then accidently turned the main theme back on instead of the child-theme (that I had customized) and all styles were gone.

It took me a little while to figure out that I’ve activated the main theme and not the child-theme but as soon as I reactivated the child-theme, everything was back to normal.

    Best,
    David
