  • Hi all, im running a website running on wordpress with Classipress theme.

I do not know what is the real root of the problem now but, i could not post a new ad so i read around the forum. After some reading and researching, seems like reinstallation of the theme is the solution.

However i do have a couple of questions.

How do i reinstall the theme?

My web designer did some extra designs to my website. Will reinstalling the theme change the whole website back to default?

Will my advertisements all be deleted along with the user accounts after reinstallation?

    Thanks for the help!

  • Hi
Firstly could be possible the custom changes your dev might have broken some functionality in the theme.
I hope your developer followed child theme concept to update/modify your theme, as than you could revert your parent theme to a default theme and see if it fixes your problem, or you can ask your dev to first backup all his changes and than revert the theme.

The other thing you could do before all this is see, if may be any plugin you installed could have caused this issue, this way you still have your theme.
Go by uninstalling the plugins and then see if problem goes away, if it does start activating them one by one and see which plugin when activated caused the problem.

    Hi Robin,

Just to check with you, will creating a new form for my ad solve the problem?

    Thanks

    Sorry didn’t get it?

will creating a new form for my ad solve the problem?

what i meant was actually, because “creating a new ad” requires me to create a form for example “brand”, “model” etc etc, so that i can key in the product listing information. what i am referring is this: https://docs.appthemes.com/classipress/creating-custom-fields-and-forms/

So, if i create a new form, would i be able to solve this problem because now when i click “post an ad”, it only states the price of the listing and i cannot move on to keying in the product information to get the listing up on my website.

    Thanks Robin
