Support » Fixing WordPress » Theme Preview shows current theme, not new, still activates fine

  • Hi there, I see other similar problems listed, but none of those seem to be exactly the same.

    Since 2.7 when I go to activate a new theme and the preview window comes up, it shows the old theme, not the new theme.
    If you activate the theme anyway, then all is fine, it activates okay.

    Some of the webs doing this have wp and/or wp-content in other locations than normal. Everything else works fine.

    Is this a bug in the preview?
    Has anyone else got this happening?

  • This is happening to me, too. I’ve got 2.7.1 installed for three different blogs on one host. Two of them show preview, one does not and I don’t know what the bug could be.

    Same here. The problem appeared in two newer WP 2.7.1 installations. The other one was a blog updated from 2.6.x to 2.7.1 and goes fine. ¿?

    Got the cause (but not the workarround yet). The problem is related to LOCALIZATION.

    My blogs are in Spanish, so I define whte WP_LANG variable in wp-config.php this way:

    define (‘WPLANG’, ‘es_ES’);

    But if I set it to it’s original value, the theme preview will work again:
    define (‘WPLANG’, ”);

    If I find a workaround I will post it here.

    I finally figure it out: when WPLANG is set, wordpress generates broken cookie “wordpress_logged_in” required to view theme. This cookie is generated partially from LOGGED_IN_KEY constant.

    All you have to do is set random phrase in config file like:
    define(‘LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘abc’);
