# theme & plugin updates

 * I’ve looked everywhere for some information about this, but there just doesn’t
   seem to be anything anywhere, the lack of info for multisite is really frustrating
   me!
 * If I setup a MU network of up to 80 sites, can I:
 * a) change the theme that they all use in one selection, or does each site’s theme
   need to be changed through its own admin panel?
 * b) say I want to install a plugin. If I install it through Network Admin, will
   it automatically become active on all my sites?

 * If you meant “apply a theme to all sites at the same time” then no. Except for
   the default theme, each site’s theme must be changed within the site admin panel.
 * If you meant “update the Network copy of the theme and that update gets applied
   to all of the sites in the network using that theme” then yes.

 * Yes. You can “Network Activate” them via the Network Admin >> Installed Plugins
   screen. That will activate them across all your sites. Otherwise you will need
   to visit each site’s admin panel and activate it there (for example, sometimes
   you may want a plugin just for one site).
 * You can aslo put them into the mu directory (mu means Must Use) but network activating
   them is more flexible.
