    All of the customizations must be done via child theme only.

    After you got a child theme setup and activated properly, you can put this to its style.css just below the @import line.

    #logo img {
    	margin-top: -10px;
    	margin-bottom: 10px;
    }

    Adjust the value as you see fit.

    For CSS customizations only, you can use one of the Custom CSS plugins instead of child theme.

    Also, if all you want is only logo positioning, you can just modify the image itself to include/exclude top/bottom transparent pixels, this way there won’t be any thing else to be done, just fix the image and re-upload.

    Thank you for your suggestions. This is perfect. I would rather code in the changes. I will try to work on the child theme.
