Theme maintenance question…

    For utmost security and functionality, it is wise to always use the latest wordpress version? Is that assumption correct? Therefore If I update my wordpress, does this mean the theme may need updating as well? So if we pay for themes, we have to be careful and avoid fly by night designers? If they are not around to update the theme, that means I’m SOL?
    Is my thinking correct? Please advise.

    You are correct that it is wise to always use the latest WordPress version. Typically new WordPress updates won’t affect your themes and thus you usually dont need to update your WordPress theme every time you update WordPress. However if you are paying money for a theme, it is sensible to ensure you buy from a reputable vendor to ensure you receive support and any updates to the theme if they are required in the future.
