Theme load speed very slow

The theme seems to load incredibly slowly and it takes my homepage peterandyen.com quite a few seconds waiting time and same with this page too: https://peterandyen.com/category/places-guide/

I’ve resized every single picture in my website but it’s still running very slow. Contacted wordpress and they basically said it was the theme’s issue not theirs.

Are you able to help do anything to make the site load much faster?
