• I have a current website that I put together using basic HTML. The front page layout consists of a large main column with pertinent information about the organization (what they do, where they are office hours, etc). I have a right side sidebar column which contains a list of articles that are available on the website. These are news alerts, schedules, etc which are generally produced by the staff in MS Word, and we save the file as a PDF which gets uploaded and the subject line is listed in this sidebar for the visitor to click on.
I have looked over CMS systems like Joomla, and found them to be too restrictive and complicated step wise to add each article.
I was thinking that a Blog format would be great, but here is my problem. We don’t want the blog on the Main page of the site, we want our static page with pertinent information on the main page. But, we’d like the list of articles to be listed in the sidebar sort of like the recent posts on a standard blog layout. Is there any way to setup the blog on an additional page of the site, but have the list of posts show up in the sidebar on the main page? This doesn’t necessarily rule out the “Recent Posts” sidebar being on the Blog page, in fact once the visitor clicks on one post subject and is taken to the blog page, they can stay on that page to read other posts.

    Any ideas on this?

    (Added moments later…)
I just had an idea. Is it possible to use something like an iframe to capture the “Recent Posts” column from the Blog post and repeat it on the main page in the sidebar?

    Thanks,

    Bob
