If I want to make changes to single.php, then do I make changes to the one in bp-default, or is there a place in the Frisco directory that I should be editing? Thanks!

    go to public_html > wp_content > plugins > buddypress >bp-themes > bp-default > single.php

I think you have to do it from bp-default because frisco is a child theme of buddypress default theme. However david is the best person to answer your doubts

The Frisco Theme is a child theme of BP-default. If you want to change something in the theme, do that by changing the correct template file (.php file for the part of the page you want to change) in the Frisco directory. If you can't find the file you want to change there, then copy the file you want to change from the BP-default directory and then make the changes in the Frisco folder. Make sure to retain the exact same directory structure.

WordPress will then read the template file from the child theme (Frisco) theme directory and any future changes to BP-default will not affect your changes.

@apellicone - Make sure that single.php is the file you're trying to edit. http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy

Single.php will display the single blog post.

@codegene and @angslycke are right on the money. Because Frisco is a child theme of bp-default, it uses templates from bp-default unless the template already exists in the Frisco theme folder.

In this instance, there is no single.php included in Frisco and you'll want to copy it over from bp-default and place it in the Frisco theme folder. Then make your edits to single.php in the Frisco theme folder.
