[Theme: Famous] Action & Feature Boxes featured image

Is it possible to use the three action boxes to pull the most recent three posts from my news category?

Is it also possible to have selected feature boxes pulling the most recent posts from other categories/pages?

Does the theme make any use of the wordpress “featured image” function? I have featured images already set for most of my posts.
