Support » Theme: Elbee Elgee » [Theme: Elbee Elgee] Removing the Pages, Archives, Categories, and Meta Sections in Sidebar

  • I’m loving this theme, by the way 🙂

How do you remove the Page, Archives, Categories, and Meta sections from my wordpress pages? I deleted sidebar.php or whatever it was called completely, but they are still showing up.

I have the theme set up to 1-column, fixed width, with ng.css . I’m sure there’s an easy fix for this, but I can’t find it.

Those are output by default when no widgets are assigned to the Primary and Secondary sidebars. There’s no hardcoded way to delete them in an upgrade-friendly fashion, but you could do the following:

    1. Download this child theme:
    2. Unzip it into your wp-content/themes directory
    3. Activate the child theme.
    4. Create a file called sidebar.php in wp-content/themes/elbee-child/
    5. Add this to the top of that file: <?php
    6. Save the file.

This should make the sidebar default to outputting nothing, nada, zilch.

Thank you for your quick reply! It worked, but it also got rid of the copyright and credits footers, which I needed. I found a solution, though, because of your answer.

Here’s the solution, in case anyone needs it in the future:

Simply take everything out of the orignial sidebar.php file, except for these last lines:

    global $lblg_options;

That will get rid of all sidebars and meta links, but will leave the copyright info and credits in place.

Hmmm, that makes zero sense. The credits are output in footer.php, NOT sidebar.php.

Do you have a live site that I could take a look at to see what you’re referring to?

I like the theme but don’t want to use it as a blog….

How do I have more pages look like the “HOME” page? I want the widgets on the pages even though I would like to have a more static pages or only one post.

Other template options allow “Topics” without widgets. I would like choice of either a “Topics” with widgets or without.

I am just starting designing with Elbee-Elgee and have a quick question. One new page has an under construction sentence with a search box.

How do I remove that information? I tried editing with fonts and inserting a picture. The editing is saved but not shown on the page.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

Not sure I follow. The page.php template isn’t really any different than the main index.php template.
