• Greetings,

It’s a long time since I used WordPress. Today, I’ve just installed WordPress 3.8, md5sum correct, so new install without any plugins, but when I want to change the .css (like rtl.css, etc.) with the editor, it’s impossible…

In fact, in “Edit Themes“, Styles, when I clicked on the link: [mywebsite]/wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=rtl.css&theme=twentytwelve or twentythirteen, twentyfourteen
instead of showing .css like old version of WordPress, the page refreshes and I reach to a login page. If I try to log in, nothing happens. Permissions chmod are correct (605). I can edit the Templates.

Is it a bug from the editor?
Not a real problem, ’cause I can edit from ftp, but I don’t understand why it doesn’t work now.

    Thank you,
    Regards.

  • There are no known bugs of this type in WP 3.8 nor any reported bugs. This sounds like a server issue. What is in the root .htaccess file?

I suspected the .htaccess. to be the cause too, but I removed it just to see if it fixes this trouble. No 🙁

the .htaccess is located in the same folder than WordPress files /www/.htaccess
I tried to put .htaccess in the root, but nothing changes. It’s very strange…

    According to the logs:

    [17/Jan/2014:14:08:17 +0100] “GET /wp-admin/theme-editor.php HTTP/1.0” 200 13822 “[website]/wp-admin/themes.php” “Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0”
    [17/Jan/2014:14:08:21 +0100] “GET /wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=comments.php&theme=twentytwelve HTTP/1.1” 200 7069 “[website]/wp-admin/theme-editor.php” “Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0”

200, everything is OK for all templates.
    But .css:

    [17/Jan/2014:14:08:47 +0100] “GET /wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=rtl.css&theme=twentytwelve HTTP/1.1” 302 26 “[website]/wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=tag.php&theme=twentytwelve” “Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0”

    302… Found, but redirection?

No errors in logs by the way.

Have you asked your hosts about this?
