 * this is my second install with wordpress. the first time, i could upload new
themes and change anything i wanted. but now, i can not do that anymore. i can
only upload themes, but i can’t. i see a notice saying, “If this file were writable
   you could edit it.”
 * what does that mean? thank you

 * It means you have the wrong permissions on the file to be able to edit it through
the web interface. Which is perfectly fine and actually safer. Edit it on your
own PC with a text editor then upload your changes manually, via FTP or what
   have you. It’s not hard.
 * If you use Filezilla as an FTP client, it has the ability to download a file,
open it in a text editor and let you edit it, then upload the changes. Very convenient
   for that sort of thing.
