When you take a theme from someone and use at a template which you change almost everything in, can you then take their credit line away?

Also, this MAGAZINE theme is perfect for what I want to do, in fact the ability to arrange things as one likes in the DB window seems too good to be true. Is it too good to be true? 🙂

    Thanx

  • That depends: under what license is the Theme distributed?

If it’s a GPL (or GPL-compatible) Theme, then YES, you absolutely can make any modifications to the Theme whatsoever.

That said, even with GPL Themes, if you redistribute the Theme, then you need to retain the copyright attribution and license declaration, as contained in style.css. (You are not required to retain a public-facing credit link/text.)

But if the Theme isn’t distributed under the GPL, then you’ll need to consult the terms of the distribution license.
