Theme: Clean Blogging – child theme does not work properly

Hi, hopefully somebody can help me with the following.
I created a child theme for “Clean Blogging” following the steps on https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes.
The setup should be okay, because it does work when I use “twentysixteen” or “twentyseventeen” instead.

So the folder name is called “clean-blogging-child” and I have added “style.css” and “functions.php”. The css files of the parent are loaded with the child theme, but somehow the layout is screwed up. The buttons aren’t styled and the widgets are not aligned to the right side of the screen.

Any idea what the problem could be? Thank you so much in advance for your help!
