Support » Themes and Templates » [Theme: Church] make a new page template that uses the content/ sidebar option

  • Resolved praiford

I want to make a new page template for the about us section (maybe others later but as a test for now) and have it use the Content, content/sidebar, or sidebar/content option. The page will also contain posts as well a page data. The posts will be from posts with category of about us. I know how to add post to pages even though everyone keeps saying it can’t be done. Now I just want to figure out how to use the options to turn the sidebar on or off.

Also why are there no instructions on the sites for how to use a template such as Omega. I think that is one of the most complicated themes I have ever seen and I have no clue as to how to even use it. There should be instructions showing people how to make templates from these things. Its hard enough trying to figure WordPress out.

    Thank you.

BTW, I don’t have the site available. Its only on my laptop running MAMP right now. I am just trying to figure wordpress out and I may use the church theme for our Church Web site but as of now we haven’t talked about getting a site set up yet. It was just something mentioned in passing and it may or may not happen. When I saw how different this was from the other templates that I have been using for external sites, I wanted to play with it some more and figure out what is going on with it.

Never mind. I figured it out. I had to study the output code between my about us page and the contact page. The sidebar kept going outside of the main wrapper. I went through all the lines and made sure I had the correct div and class types setup. Once I did that, it worked properly. Thank you for putting the <!– .class –> comments in. That made easier for me to figure out where the problem was and fix it.
