You need to post a link to YOUR site — not the theme.

(WPyogi–Pretty sure that link pops up automatically when the post is tagged with the theme name. :))

OP: You know what, I think I originally intended to incorporate custom headers somehow, but they didn’t make it into the current version and I forgot to disable the functions. It may be an option at some point in the future, but for now they’re technically not supported–I’ll update the theme to reflect that soon. Sorry about that!

You can use FTP to replace the default graphic with yours–just give it the same file name and upload to the /img directory. It’s a hacky way to do it but it works as a temporary fix. πŸ™‚

    sixhours! (ms Caroline!)

Big thanks to you from me for this thread and your beautiful retro theme. I managed to change the banner and shape the theme to my needs. See url for the end result. (Hope you are cool with it?!)

If you have any feed back I would be so grateful (constructive criticism = winner). I am not happy with the navigation widget I am using so if you have any suggestions I would be very grateful.

Thanks again. I will donate again soon. I am very happy with the result.

    Cheerio,

Hi Cris. Thanks much! Glad this thread was helpful.

For the navigation widget, I’d suggest using a custom menu (Appearance -> Menus) instead. It will appear fixed at the bottom of the screen.

And my only other suggestion would be to update the header graphic for the responsive version (or turn off the responsive layout option) since it goes back to the cupcake when viewed on a mobile or other device. If you resize your browser window as you’re viewing the site that should give you an idea of what I mean. πŸ™‚

Thank you! I’ll give the custom menu a go. I did see that the cupcake was back, when I checked it out on my phone. Bummer. I’ll take a look at that as well.

    Thanks again! πŸ™‚

Hi Caroline, I’ve used your suggested hack above to upload my own custom header image and want to update it for the responsive version too as you suggest. How do i do this? Couldn’t see any folder in FTP client for responsive version image – maybe I’m lookinh in wrong place, or am I supposed to type something into the ‘custom CSS’ field in Theme Options? Thanks!

Also how big is original header img and what size do i have to make my custom one to be the same – i thought id made it the same but the ribbon is not quite long enough now i’ve replaced it.

The responsive image is actually two images layered on top of each other–a background pattern, bar-cupcake.png, and cupcake-sm.jpg, both located in the img folder.

The dimensions for the original are 850px x 265px. The dimensions for the smaller image are 200px square.

    Hope this helps!

Hi Amalia. Currently there’s not an easy to way to change the header in Buttercream without overwriting the original files, which is not recommended.

If you want to change it anyway, you can do so using FTP. Check out the following guide if you’re not familiar with FTP:

    Thank you !!!

Hi Im Nora and I love your theme ! thanks so much πŸ™‚

id really appreciate it. thanks! πŸ™‚

Hi Nora, I’m glad you like the theme! Are you using a child theme for modifications? Have you updated the theme recently?

If you’re using a child theme, try deactivating it and only activate the primary Buttercream theme to rule out an issue in your child theme.

If you’re only using the parent theme, try deactivating/reactivating it. If that doesn’t work, disable all plugins to ensure there’s not a weird conflict somewhere.

Also, try going to Appearance -> Theme Options and selecting your preferred style, then save. It looks as though the correct color scheme styles are not being loaded, and this might fix it.

And please post any follow-up questions in a new thread, since it’s much easier to keep track of new issues. Don’t forget to tag your topic with the theme name, too.

This goes for everyone else, too–please start new topics for new questions! Thanks!
