[Theme: Brightpage] How do I remove the Site Title and Description header box?

  • Hi dailytobacconist,

    Without a link to your site so we can see what you’re seeing, this is just my best guess. I installed the Brightpage theme and used the Firebug add-on in Firefox to pinpoint the CSS controlling the site title and description. Make a Child Theme and then add one of these rules to your Child Theme:

    #header-box {
    	display: none

    }

    or

    #header-box {
     visibility: hidden
    }

    Display: none will hide the title and description and remove the space it usually takes up on your site. Visibility: hidden will hide the title and description but keep a blank space where those lines were on your site.

    Hope this helps!

    Sorry, I didn’t realize that it wasnt posted. The url is http://dailytobacconist.com

    I’m very very new to CSS and have yet to take any classes or whatnot (scheduled at my local community center in June), so things like “Child Themes” scare the crap out of me at this point.

    This is the current theme CSS info from the editor:

    [CSS moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please just post a link to your site.]

    So maybe there is a way you see that I can do it just by editing this? Your help is greatly appreciated!

    If you can see how the L in daily is miscolored due to the highlighted box, that is what I’m talking about. I would really like that to either be invisible or gone all together. I hope it is doable !

    I’m sorry but it is beyond the scope of these forums to deal with basic CSS issues. Try a dedicated CSS resource such as http://www.css-discuss.org/ instead. I’d also recommend using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS work.

    Apparently that theme tries to keep the link to the Site Title text even if you remove the Site Title and Description in your settings and upload an image in Appearance > Header.

    You will definitely want to make a Child Theme before you make the following changes to your header.php file to make the entire header image clickable:

    Designing Headers

    If all of this is a bit overwhelming, you may want to try using a different theme that is easier to customize.

    Hope this helps!

    ChristiNi,

    Thanks a ton! That is exactly what I’m trying to do. You’re a great resource!!!

    I can’t wait to take my classes this summer and get much more familiar with design work.
