# Theme breaks after activation.

 * I have installed v 4.1 locally to do testing on my website and experiment w other
   themes.
 * However I know installing wordpress locally can make you have to mess with php.
   ini settings to get the theme to upload. Max execution time and max upload size
   and all of that has been changed to numbers above what I need.
 * But my problem is, I install a theme and it installs fine and I go to activate
   it, then boom nothing. The page turns white. You cant use the front end or backend.
   So I have to go to the file system and delete the theme i just uploaded so i 
   can try to fix it and return it to normal. A few themes appear to work. Themes
   that are lighter and not as bloated. So i am thinking it has something to do 
   with config settings or php settings or apache settings etc.
 * Also I click view source on the blank pages that show up and they have nothing
   there, but the link is there, ie, it goes to theme options after install.
 * It seems like something is keeping the pages from loading. Any help is appreciated.

 * Also my remote host i have works fine, so i know how to install it. But seems
   like something in the setting needs changed to make BIGGER themes load.
 * The pre install themes such as the twenty-xx series works when activated just
   not the more bloated themes it appears.

 * But the smaller themes like twenty-fourteen, and even “total” seem to work.

 * I’ve not heard of this problem before – are you using current versions of Apache,
   etc.?
 * Do you have any plugins active?
 * You should also know that commercial themes aren’t supported on these forums –
   so if this only happens in those themes, you may want to try asking the developers.

 * Actually, just reread your OP – crashing PHP (white screen) isn’t that unusual.
   I was more answering about size being the issue – which it may be, but it may
   be something else.
