• Hi,

Apologies if this concern was already raised because I didn’t find it (somehow).

Till few days back I was running my WP site happily. Recently I installed/activated a new theme and noticed that after theme activation my index.php automatically went blank

I restored index.php from WP source code but as soon as I refresh my site, it automatically again went blank.

If I restore index.php and move back to my old theme, index.php remain intact (keep code) and site works fine.

I tried uninstall – install of new theme multiple times but it didn’t worked.

I understand that I downloaded new theme from not so reliable source. Is there any way by which I can find the notorious code which is creating this trouble for me? or put a permanent fix?

  • We don’t support “not so reliable” themes at all here – sorry. And you’d be well advised to stay far away from it too.

    This may be helpful:

Not unless you’re good with PHP & HTML as well as interpreting error messages in an error log. Ditch the theme and chose one from http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

I would also strongly recommend that you read this article.

when I said “not so reliable” it doesn’t mean that I am using nulled/pirated themes.

The theme was not downloaded from WP directory, but picked from one of the friend (for testing) who just started creating WP themes. The theme is currently under beta (sort of).

I just wanted to know if it’s a common problem because of any common bug in code. When I said notorious code I meant any piece of code which me might picked from when while developing and unknowingly brought any hacked.

If members still feel that I should not seek any support from this forum, then I will delete this topic happily.

P.S. Read it again, I am looking for help related to WP and not related to theme

it doesn’t mean that I am using nulled/pirated themes.

Not did we imply that. Have you looked at the article we referenced?

Asking the friend would be the logical place to go. It that theme is causing that to happen, that’s a theme problem — not core WP.

If there are issues with your custom-made theme, we won’t be much help because we haven’t access to that theme.
