I am brand new to blogging with wordpress and am unfamiliar with code, etc. I have the adelle theme installed and would like to change the color of the sidebar from gray to white and haven't a clue how to do it. I would also like to change the font on the sidebar widgets too to match the font in the header I created and am at a loss as well regarding that.

My site is not up an running yet and I am still using the dot com version so I cannot link the page for reference.

Is your site on WordPress.COM? If so, you need to ask on their forums here:

Currently I have a site up and running on wordpress.com. I set up self hosting on Friday and am in the process of waiting for the domain to be transferred to launch it on wordpress.org.

I am trying to change the sidebar font and background color on the wordpress.org site right now and can't figure it out. I would like to complete this part of the site before launching it.

It's really not usually possible to help with CSS questions without seeing the site...especially for a theme that we don't have access to - Adelle isn't included in the themes supported here:

You should be able to use a browser tool like Firebug to find the CSS for those changes. Then COPY that code to a custom CSS option/plugin and make the change there.
