• Hello,
I just updated to latest wordpress version and it was also saying that theme 2020 improved to give a more customized look. I understood it as saying that in home page we can now customize the look? For example by default it just shows recent posts. How can I make it to show latest posts from a few categories that I will select on different places in home page? For example lets say we divide the home page into 6 parts, each part showing latest posts from one category for a total of 6 categories etc…

    Hiya,

Just a heads up, I’ve moved your post to the support forum for the Twenty Twenty theme (as that’s what you’re seeking help with).

Creating lists for multiple categories as you describe isn’t a built in feature, you will need an additional plugin for this.

Luckily, there’s a lot of great plugins out there which lets you do just that with the block editor by extending it. Some of the more popular choices include https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-addons-for-gutenberg/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/coblocks/ (there are also many others though).

I did some quick research and see that the first one, Ultimate Addons, does have a lot of functionality around showing posts based on your own criteria. I would suggest playing around and seeing what works best for you though!

@clorith tbh I think @ketanco is referring to the Latest Post Block.

    1. Create a new page e.g. “Home”.
    2. Using Gutenberg editor: Create a new block on said page. You can find the “Latest Post” block within the “Widgets” category.
    3. Change the “Sort and Filter” settings of the block to your liking (here you can set the category)
    4. Reapeat X times until you have your corresponding setup
    5. Go to Settings>Reading and change your Homepage to be “Home”

Not sure how to do this without Gutenberg though.

hi all, thanks for the suggestion I had a similar question and it helps. However, the problem in doing what you suggest, @raqai, is that then (using your example) the homepage is littered with a bit “Home” title which is the title of that page.
