• How do you activate the secondary widget area in theme 2010? Can it be put for example on the left margin or even on the right with the primary widget area?
    Thank you.

  • Twenty Ten was designed with widget areas in the right sidebar and the footer. I’m not aware of a way to change the locations.

    See this Twenty Ten example with both widget areas in use.

    I thought you can add a second widget are like the primary widget area.
    Thanks.

    You can but they are all located on the right. I know what you mean–might as well be one big widget since they can’t be relocated. I use the four footers to break it up.

    So the secondary is right below the primary widget area? I thought it was like 2 separate sidebars, either on the right or left or one on each side. Not sure when I tried to use it if it added items under the same primary widget area.
    Thanks.

    I came here looking for an answer. I was not sure whether I found it here. So I dug through the twentyten files and found the following will put the secondary widget wherever you want within a page. Haven’t tried single page or category page. But I think this should work anywhere.

    <?php dynamic_sidebar( ‘secondary-widget-area’ ); ?>
