Thematic child theme trouble: stray border in header (3 posts)

    I was having similar troubles to the person here http://wordpress.org/support/topic/194045?replies=5

    ... and followed the first bit of advice, finding and modifying

    #wrapper {
        border-top:9px solid black;

    BUT, the second part, the stray border that is smack in the middle of my header area at http://thoughtyouknew.us/dev/ was not so easy to ferret out.

    I looked for border-bottom:1px solid #242A30; but changing border-bottom: 0px or border-bottom: none did not get rid of it.

    OK, I fiddled with http://thoughtyouknew.us/dev/ a bit... and set blog-title border-top and border-bottom to magenta and green, and what I noticed is ... well not only is that line still there (1px line) below the green, but it isn't black it's #242A30

    So it isn't #blog-title, or is it? Could it be some other css file that is overriding this? Some other selector that I just haven't found yet is what I'm expecting though.

    Unhappily, I wasn't able to figure out why the child theme's style.css was not overriding the parent theme's default.css,

    So, I gritted my teeth and changed Thematic's default.css:

    #blog-title {
        padding:99px 0 0 0;

    That "fixed" it, but I would still really like to know what is up with this.
