Support » Fixing WordPress » ‘the_meta’ after ‘the_content’ without line br

  • I’m building a news site where each entry consists of…
    [storytitle]
    [the_content] [post_meta]
    …and nothing else (i.e., no comments, no permalink, etc.)
    The part I’m having trouble with is forcing the post_meta
    <?php _e("Filed under:"); ?> <?php the_category() ?> at <?php the_time() ?> <?php edit_post_link(); ?>
    …to follow immediately after the_content without a linebreak.
    I don’t know much about PHP but my hunch is that php _e() is a function that’s wrapping its output with linebreaks? Or perhaps there’s a linebreak at the end of the_content()?
    Could someone kindly suggest a way to have the post_meta stuff immediately follow the_content?
    Many thanks.

  • I should add that I’ve moved the line…
    <?php _e("Filed under:"); ?> <?php the_category() ?> at <?php the_time() ?> <?php edit_post_link(); ?>
    …out of the post div and into the storycontent div immediately following…
    <?php the_content();

    Thank you for those good ideas, Kafkaesqui! Both worked!
    I really appreciate your help.
