  • I’m the author of Ether Content Builder plugin and have a query regarding WordPress SEO plugin compatibility.

Is there any reason why WordPress SEO plugin does not apply the_content filter on the post/page content when extracting some data from post content, e.g. meta tags? It’s a good practice since filters allow modification and adding of new data (in this case post content). I’m the author of a plugin that adds post content in a atypical hence it has to make use the forementioned filters.

I’m receiving quite a lot of WordPress SEO plugin incompatibility reports (WordPress SEO does not pick up content generated with Ether Content Builder). I can’t do anything on my end about this behaviour and the solution seems pretty straightforward from WordPress SEO plugin perspective. Can you please have a look at this / share your thoughts with me on this topic?

  • As the author of the Ether plugin, you may also want to know another area that your plugin does not interact well with WordPress – in particular when you set the “Visibility” of a wordpress page to “Password Protected” all ether generated content remains visible. This is a big problem for any of us that would like to password protect pages generated by Ether Content Builder. I have left questions for Ether Support via email and forum but have no answers as of yet. Can you please help?

Sorry, this will not be changed. There are too many plugins out there who are doing things wrong, applying the the_content filter in another place than where it is meant to be used therefore breaks lots and lots of websites.

Just to be clear: this is my opinion, not an official stance, though I suspect that @yoast agrees.
