• I tried Backuply for 3 times in the pas month since it came for free packed with Softaculous installation offer, I have about 10 plugins and 5 themes installed where 3 are twenties. First time, I wanted to backup both the db and the files but it it did not complete the backup and got stuck at 67%, second time I left it overnight and next day it did the same, it came very fast to 67% compared to the amount of hours it took to fail. Today, I did the backup separately, and it did backup the db but got stuck again at 67% to backup the files, looks like 67% is a stop point in the animation screen and has nothing to do with percentage of the backup job. However there is an hilarious strategy of the marketing team to sell cloud backup space, they are so shameless that you see insistent banners, about 3 at the same time, in the top with 100% width and 2 more smaller banners in the right side column, every time, several times, that says “TROUBLE FREE CLOUD STORAGE, BUY IT NOW”, this certainly means you will get in trouble if you do not order their cloud services. Part of this strategy has a malicious premeditated action where the backup directory set by default does not exist, and was never created in the previous backup attempts, even for the db that was successful, maybe it is a programmed trick to fail backups and sell trouble free cloud backup storage. “This app is programmed to fail”, for sure. So, I am deactivating and deleting it right now and will not try again. Note: I did not have trouble backing up with other plugin I just installed, nor with cPanel backup tool. I am NOT a competitor, it is what the Backuply’s marketing and financial sharks’ teams might say in the most authentic American persecution complex to justify their sales strategy failure.

    Hello,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Would you please tell if you are using a LiteSpeed server, from what you have described, it seems like an issue that happens when LiteSpeed kills processes.
The banner which has 100% width that is dismissable, and would you please share a screenshot where it says “TROUBLE FREE CLOUD STORAGE, BUY IT NOW”.
Our support team is always there to help users if they face issues with Backuply. If you could create a support thread we would help you fix this issue.

    Regards,

Dear, your plugin is already deleted and I will not install it again to provide you with screenshots, you can do it by your own. Someone from your marketing team wrote this banner “TROUBLE FREE CLOUD STORAGE, BUY IT NOW” you may know who did it, this passes a bad impression regard to trust and sounds like a trick once your plugin doesn’t work properly at all.

cPanel has a very efficient cron job backup where I can specify exactly what I want to backup and the frequency, so there is no need for WP backup tolls nor Cloud backup storage.

What is your suggestion? To disable LiteSpeed over Apache to make your plugin to work?

    Come on.

    Hello,

I totally get your point and it is valid, and we do not intend to sell our product by forcing it on our users. I know you don’t want to install the plugin but will it be possible for you to check the screenshots here, as we were not able to find the line you are quoting, if you could check these screenshots and tell which notice was it so we can improve it.

And for the issue of LiteSpeed although it is a knows issue and we have a doc https://backuply.com/docs/common-issues/litespeed-killing-process/ to fix it but there is no mention of that in the plugin. We have rectified that mistake and added required notice, and we are discussing if we should add the htaccess rule which fixes the issue when the plugin installs. It will be released in the next version.

    Regards,
    Vardan
