The WIdgets wiped out my sidebar

Hi, am am brand new to WordPress, having moved to it from Nucleus becasue a specific project requires these capabilities. I like it so far, but have run into some frustrating dead-ends while customizing it.

I was shocked when I opted to place a search widget on my sidebar. It elminated everything else. I shrugged and went with that, built up a sidebar of widgets…but they don’t seem to be under my control.

I get these damned white backgrounds on the titles that I can’t figure out how to get rid of. It won’t place a title for the Search box and there seems to be nothing I can do in the template/theme editors.

Anybody give me a clue on what’s going on here?

Can you have widgets AND non-widget stuff in the sidebar?

    Thanks a lot

SO… is there any way to mix widgets and regular code in the sidebar???

Can you have widgets AND non-widget stuff in the sidebar?

Yes, you just need to edit your sidebar.php file in your theme and add the hard-coded stuff before the code calls the widgets.
