  • Hi @mclawson74🙂

You have to set permissions for linux – 755 in Windows on your computer
Those 2 links should help you:
    https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-set-file-folder-permissions-to-755-or-644-in-Windows
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2000/bb727008(v=technet.10)

let me know if everything is ok

    Thank you for your response.

This is all really over my head :/

I added a group called ‘Everyone’ and gave read & execute permissions – following the user AsharamSeervi in the first link you gave me, however this has not worked.

the location of the site on my computer is

    C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Websites\www.marisnaps.dev.cc

i changed the permissions from the ‘Websites’ folder down but no luck, i still can’t update plugins or upload images.

You should never have to deal with file permissions in Windows when using a localhost webserver. Please don’t mess up your system by attempting to do so!

This sounds like a problem with the DesktopServer application provided by ServerPress, so it’s probably best to ask them for assistance.

DesktopServer is a heavily modified version of XAMPP. It may be worthwhile to install the real XAMPP application if you are unable to get assistance from ServerPress.

    Thanks @diondesigns

I have sent a request off to serverpress but i won’t hold my breath since i have the ‘limited’ version.

How would i change my site over to xampp? is it pretty straightforward?

    Regards,

    Mari.

The basic procedure would be something like:

    1. Use something like the Duplicator plugin to make a backup of your current localhost data
    2. Install XAMPP
    3. Install WordPress with the Duplicator plugin
    4. Use Duplicator to transfer your data to the new installation

It’s actually a fair amount of work, so hopefully you will receive an answer from ServerPress that solves your problem.

Thanks again! i have some time off work so i think i’m actually just going to ditch the site and start over with xampp, might be quicker than waiting for a reply from serverpress!

thanks again for the help and advice folks.

    Mari.
