The time makes me crazy

  • I uploaded the WM 2014 csv and after set up some pages, I mentioned that the matches time is not correct.

So I changed every single match to show (in the shortcode) the exact local kick-off time for germany.

Example: Match that starts in Brasil @ 17:00 will start in Germany @ 22:00.

The problem is: When I use the countdown shortcode, it says, that the first match begins 1 hour later (maybe summertime is calculated???).

    Another thing:
I deleted the prediction page. Any chance to get it back?

What WP settings for the timezone do you use? The city name or the numerical value? I remember there was a bug once, but I thought I fixed it.

You can create a new prediction page, but you will have to manually change the ID for that page in the wp_options table (using phpMyAdmin or a similar tool). I can give you instructions on how to do this.

I am using the numerical utc+1

I will try to add the page. Are there other pages I have to recreate? I deleted all and just created everything I can with shortcode.

Would be a nice feature to make it possible to set all those pages in the plug in settings.

And, additional, would be great to have a typical finals view (tournament overview)

Or a PayPal integration for payed predictions 😉

Will write soon if I found the Ids in database

I think I need your help with the page. What entry in the wp_options do I have to look for?

I tied to search for wp_show_predictions and set the value to the page that I have created.
But that didn´t work. So I deleted the value.

    Hope for your help 😉

You have to look for the option_name ‘footballpool_plugin_options’. The value contains a part like ‘s:12:"page_id_pool";i:1281;‘. The number 1281 in my example is the ID of the predictions page. Other pages that are useful, are the user page and the statistics page.

If changing the ID’s manually does not work, you might consider backing up the pool tables, deactivate the plugin (without keeping data), re-activate the plugin and restore the pool tables.

I will consider the pages as an option in the plugin.

btw. I cannot reproduce the countdown error. Everything seems to work as expected on my dev laptop.

For the page IDs: I recreated every page_id I found and it works fine 😉

Is there a page that shows matches and the predictions of all players?

    something like

    Team 1 | : | Team 2 | Result | PredictionsPlayer 1 | PointsPlayer1 | Prediction Player 2 | PointsPlayer 2 | and so on

    For the counter:

The first match in local time is on 2014-06-12 22:00 (UTC + 1) and 2014-06-12 21:00 (UTC), right?

In Brasil, Kickoff is at 17:00, and it´s here (in UTC+1) five hours later.

In Germany, it is about 8:04 in the morning now.
the countdown says (at the moment) 80 Days, 12 Hours, 56 Minutes, Some Seconds.

So.. at the moment, there is winter time and I don´t know what happens when summertime arrives and clocks in germany show 9:04 instead.

But it the result (for now) right?

    For the page IDs:

I thank you so much. That works easy 😉

Is it possible to change the bonus questions display (single answer) to a dropdown menu?
That would save much space 😉

    Times
About the winter/summer time. In my experience if you use the city name for the timezone setting, then the summer time will be automatically adjusted.
The UTC time for the first match is 2013-06-12 20:00, which is 2013-06-12 22:00 in The Netherlands. We are both in UTC+1 now, but at the time of the match we are in UTC+2 due to DST.
See http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converted.html?iso=20140612T17&p1=233&p2=0 for a conversion of the local time of the first match to UTC.

    View of predictions
The view for all predictions is not available in the plugin.

    Bonus question
There is no drop down at the moment, but it won’t be hard to make such an option for the bonus questions. It basically works the same as the radio list. I will add it to my roadmap.
If you can’t wait for a new version you may consider changing the PHP code yourself, or add some jQuery code to change the radio’s in the frontend to a select (here’s an example for the other way around, but it shows how the technique works).

Drop down option for bonus questions will be in the next release (2.4.0).
