    a very noob question ( i am a beginner)

when i install a new theme, i install also its header.php , footer.php etc that of course are different from theme to theme

as i have fotofolio with 2 home pages, i read some tutorials that says i need to delete a line on header.php

qustion is: if i make mistake and mess up in a wrong way...can i restore the orginal phpfile? (header.php?) or do i have to reinstall the fotofolio?
i am quite sure i tried to reinstall but the header remain still the same. is this possibile?
Any tip for facing this issue?

You can avoid a mess by using a Child Theme.

Once you've created a Child Theme with just a style.css file, you copy the files you want to modify (header.php, footer.php, etc.) and then paste it into your Child Theme directory. Then you can work on your header.php and footer.php files from your Child Theme.

Thanks, I can try the child theme for all my future work on my website.
But what about the modified file? can i restore, original? *header.php?

Yes. Just get a clean copy of the theme and you can overwrite it.
