• seriously, i’m angry, nobody can answer in this forum to questions about the basic wordpress themes.

your “no bumping” rule doens’t help, if i watch the list, there are TOUSANDS of unsolved topics.. the oldest onces are around 12 months.

do you really think you make friends with this rule, if a lof of people have to see that you are not helping them and the topic is still open and it’s forbidden to push? is that your plan to keep wordpress running as best blogging software worldwide? what a joke.

instead of deleting bumps, your moderators could give an quick answer, so maybe the problem will be solved they could name andybode, who worked on that specific theme or function. that would be much more help than just deleting. but thats too much work ^^

think about it, it’s up to you.

WordPress.org is just a website where volunteers go to contribute back to the WordPress community. Nobody here is getting paid. You are as much part as WordPress as any one else, even a forum moderator.

Are you paying for support from some company? I don’t understand why you’d be angry if you weren’t. It’s like us being angry at you because you haven’t responded to this guy, or that guy. It doesn’t work like that.

The “no bumping” rule does help and saying there are thousands of unsolved topics that have no replies does not prove otherwise.

No moderator stopped any one else from answering your topic, and if your bumps were not deleted then only you could be blamed for reducing your chances of receiving support like that. Have you not seen the forum welcome about why we delete bumps? It basically outlines how being on the front page of the forum doesn’t mean anything.

Just to clarify one thing here, if we have an answer, we give it. If we don’t, we don’t. Deleting the bumps makes sure there isn’t a reply so people know that no one has found an answer for you, and you still need help.

Ask around 🙂 I nag the fellow mods for moderating without answering all the time.

Right, and I was the one deleting the bumps. If I knew the answer I would have given. If it were a CSS problem trust me I would have answered.

Honest Mika, I’m ignorant! I didn’t know the answer!! Please no more nagging 😉

As someone who has been in the unenviable position of having a post
unanswered, I think I can clarify the frustration with the “no bumping” rule.

There are soo many people asking for help in some of these forums, if your post isnt noticed within an hour of being put there, it is off the front page and may never be seen let alone answered.

No Bumping, doesnt allow your post another chance of being seen.

I realise that it isnt a wonderful solution as if everyone was allowed to bump their unanswered posts, there it would probably be down to about 10 mins that your new post would stay on the from page.

However, being able to bump unanswered posts gives us some hope of being seen.

I hope this clarifies our position.

I regret that you’re having a tough time getting support. But I’m also sorry, the no bumping rule is not changing and will continue to get deleted when found.

Putting aside that bumping does not work, many people here DO go after the No Replies link.

    https://wordpress.org/support/view/no-replies

In fact a bunch of us on the #forum Slack channel are trying to get that number of no replies down (which is TOTALLY AWESOME THAT PEOPLE ARE DOING THAT! but I digress).

If everyone bumped then the support forums would become a disorganized mess of people bumping and that’s not productive at all. Please be patient and if someone can assist your topic they will.

If people do not know the answer or don’t have anything to suggest then that’s not helpful chiming in.

    wow
way to start a post in a really condescending manner with your *drinks coffee* crap.

I myself am really sorry that I have experienced your no bumping failure rule resulting in no answer to posts.

Again I apologise for having an opinion and bothering you with it.

I don’t know why bothered to try and explain the frustration in the first place as it obviously falls on deaf ears.

Yes the volunteers do a wonderful job around here and yes this forum would suffer greatly without them but what it wouldn’t miss is condescending replies like yours.

    *drinks coffee*
go do that and think about your attitude.

First things first: I’m sorry I offended you.

That was my attempt at humor and I promise that my future replies will NOT have anymore humor to you.

I start many of my posts with *Drinks coffee*. It’s just a break the ice sort of thing and it was not meant to be condescending in anyway at all.

I like coffee and it’s a running gag with the other volunteers in support.

Can you envisage what it would be like if everyone bumped? You are aware that there are many people who ask for help, do you see how insane that would get if everyone started bumping? The meaning behind bumping, to get you on the first page, won’t even exist any more.
