the sender name in outgoing WordPress emails changed

    Until two days ago, emails that WordPress sends for the contact form submission and moderating comments came from “WordPress” and wordpress@thedomaininthelink.

    Today, that changed and it comes from Patricia Hope instead of WordPress. The email still has the correct WordPress email.

    We did not change any name. The settings are still set up the way they always have been. I can’t find any place that would show Patricia Hope as a sender’s name instead of WordPress. I looked to see if there was a new plugin added and didn’t see one.

    I have no idea. The emails used to say WordPress. Now they say Patricia Hope. We didn’t change anything.

    Are you sure if those email really come from WordPress?

    I’ve checked some more and there was a person named Patricia Hope who contacted us via the contact form. Not long after, the emails started coming from Patricia Hope instead of WordPress.

    The emails are from people who filled out our contact form. Or, people who comment on the blog where we have comment moderation turned on.

    Those emails used to say WordPress. Now, they say Patricia Hope.

    How could I tell if they are not actually coming from WordPress? The email address says wordpress@(thesitesdomain).

    I mean the email client tool you use to read messages, such as Gmail.

    This goes to a domain email so it’s through cpanel/webmail. I tested on a couple of different emails. One is read by pulling it up in Microsoft Office 365. The other is on a Mac.
