  • Hi there!

I’m posting this new topic because I would like know what wordpress users do to make their pages look and work exactly how you wanted it to.

Being a new wordpress user I have used several weeks now, trying to find the right theme as I do not have the skills to make one of my own.

But what a mess! There are thousends of themes out there, some free, some premium. How is it possible to find something that works?

Also a lot of the free themes have bugs in them.

How did you find your theme?
    Where did you get it?
    Maybe you made it yourself?
Is it for personal use or business?

If you found a theme from the thousends out there, did you change it? In case you did -what did you do to make it your page?

And the last question -did you pay for your theme, or did you download a freebee?

If you also want to show it of -place a link!

My own page is a mess, not finding what I’m looking for, trying several new themes every day. But anyways the adress is

Would be fun to hear from all of you wp-users! 🙂

  • A good place to start is to go to the themes directory and look at the most popular — listed on the right:

In my opinion, you don’t really need to go past the first one (iNove) in the list to find an excellent, free, theme. I’ve never paid for a theme…too many excellent quality free themes out there to do that.

Yes, I made some changes…most do at least some minor modifications…that’s whats great about open source.

I have thought about paying for a theme -but found this site after some looking around.

The only paid sites that I found worth using, is
But are they worth it? I’m not sure I would try to find out!

But still, I would like to hear from others!

It’s not the point of this topic that I need help, I’m just curious of what people do in general! 😉

    What did you do?

I recently upgraded, but I used to run my blog on the Poetry theme by Cuikai, and it was not buggy at ALL. In fact, I can’t imagine how I would ever improve it — I was EXTREMELY happy with it, and have the utmost confidence in ANY themes designed by Cuikai.

Recently I upgraded to a much more customized look for my blog because I needed more advanced features and because I finally found the time to do the customization I wanted. But, for the months that I used the Poetry theme, I was very happy.

As far as how I created a customized look, I used php and html to edit the theme. If you don’t have a design or programming background, you might just want to search online for tutorials or see if you can find a designer to help you.

All the themes listed in the Extend section are free and have been checked for compatibility. There’s some rather heavy standards to get into that listing.

I really would not recommend getting themes from anywhere else. You’re on your own there if you do.
