• I’ve read so many posts on this it crazy. Not all of those subscribed for email notification are getting emails. I’ve read through several hacks over the past few weeks that talk about replacing portions of code. I ctrl+F to find where to make the changes and the spots just don’t exist.
The page is used by my school’s principal to notify the faculty of any goings on. I’ve asked him to check with the folks at the board offices if his email account is even trying to send out messages. However, I’ve manually sent out emails with bcc lists around 100 before with no problem.

  • the million dollar question is, of course, is your PHP configured to send email?

That’s where I’d start, at any rate.

I assume that it is. I know that some people do get the email notifications. Other than that, I really don’t know even how to approach that question, my php knowledge as limited as it is.

Check over at the main Subscribe2 site – I posted an email test plugin recently that may help you.

There may be multiple reasons for that. If you have an active post with many comments and many subscribers, your server will be sending lots of emails every time a new comment is made. To some filters and/or mail servers that may look like spam, so they just block you.

Also check to see if your mail server have an SPF record. Some servers wouldn’t accept mail without it (go to dnsstuff.com and get a “DNSreport” for your site).

As an alternative, consider adding a link for the comments rss feed somewhere close to your comment form. All modern browsers have some rss support and rss is a lot better than sending lots of emails all the time IMHO. Even this topic has its own rss feed from where you can receive all follow-up messages, look below.

    Hi,
I feel sympathetic with you. The renowned bluehost support has made me feel like an idiot. I want to send out 300 emails once per week with subscribe2 but they never get out in a reliable manner. Support told me to get a dedicated ip but at the same time told me that I should use dada mail and that I still could get cpu errors. I think they got something seriously wrong. Please bluehost prove me wrong!
