    This is already solved, but it might help others.

    I suddenly found out I can’t save or publish anything, Site Health was showing The REST API encountered an error.

    I first disabled all my performance and cache plugins that might be causing this and it didn’t change anything.

    Only thing that worked was unchecking Enable Gzip Compression in this plugin.

    Hi,

    Only thing that worked was unchecking Enable Gzip Compression in this plugin.

    You need to check with your host to make sure the following PHP function: function.ob-gzhandler is running in your server.
