    Hi there, to start Im a beginner in wordpress and I thought I had everything pretty much under control…however I am really lost now and been searching the forum and youtube for days, i hope someone here can help me out!

    I recently changed my main domain name from http://www.itshandmade.nl into http://www.heidididid.com. I now constantly have the problem that opening my site or page in the wp-admin, I get the notification 404 Not found The requested URL /wp-admin/plugins.php was not found on this server. When I refresh the page im trying to open, it does appear. Sometimes it appears completely without a format, refresh again and my page looks like how it is suppose to look.

    things I have done/checked so far
    saved permalinks in dashboard
    resaved .htaccess file
    installed and ran Velvet Blues Update URLs
    cleared my internet browse/cache/cookies

    am i missing something obvious? some hints maybe where i should search for a solution? thank you so much!

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Did you change the site and home URL in WordPress before doing this?

    In case you did not:

    add this to wp-config.php:

    define('WP_HOME','http://www.heidididid.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://www.heidididid.com');

    Or follow any of the methods outlined here:

    Hi Keith
    Thanks for your reply, I indeed forgot that initially so i could not acces my wp admin anymore either, I added it later to the wp-config.php it still gives me the server not found error very strange. I will check the link again you send o must just overlook something, thanks again!

    Make sure the lines are added near the top of wp-config.php immediately after code that looks like this:

    * @package WordPress
     */

    Other ideas…

    Try FTP’ing into your site and disabling all plugins by renaming the plugins folder – something like plugins.old and see if that helps. The idea is to be sure you have no security plugins that are modifying .htaccess.

    At the same time try renaming .htaccess to .htaccess.old – located in the root of your site.

    My bad (maybe)…

    Just re-read your OP. The issue you described is often caused by DNS changes. Maybe DNS has not fully propagated yet.

    Thanks Keith kuch appreciated! I have tried all day, I find it so strange that the error is not a dead end, it’s more of a nuisance having to refresh all the time, I’ll puzzle some more (cause it does itch to fix đŸ˜‰
