    I know this is an old problem with proven fixes but, I am stuck.

    When I try to post (publish or save draft) or preview an item, error message received:
    ***************************************
    The requested URL was rejected. If you think this is an error, please contact the webmaster.

    Fixes tried as follows: 1) removed all plugins by using ftp rename /plugins directory approach
    2) installed a complete new upgrade version of theme by ftp (Catch Responsive ProVersion: 3.5.1)

    Problem remains. I’m thinking a new version update of WordPress is last resort.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Also try:
    – switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
    – If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.

    Hello, I am having exactly this problem BUT ONLY ON A POST WHICH CONTAINS A LIST OF MORE THAN 5 LINKS.

    Any other form of post seems to be no problem at all.

    @tara,

    Thank you for the suggestions.

    I did switch to the 2015 theme ….the same result, i.e. URL error when trying to save/publish a post.

    This problem came out of the blue ….no new plugins for weeks, same theme for months and no changes to WP.

    I’ll continue to work the problem …may take a few days.

    Try re-saving your Permalinks structure at Admin panel>>>Settings>>>Permalinks.

    @ Tara,

    re-saved permalinks —- no change, same URL error

    I did notice something very strange. When editing a post …hit Preview and received the URL error. However, I did a *copy link* of the same Preview button and went to that link …it was perfect (?)

    so, I took a closer look at the underlying html for the Edit Post screen and found a ton of CSS errors, e.g.:

    [Warning] Unexpected CSS token: : (skin.min.css, line 1)
    [Warning] Invalid CSS property declaration at: ; (skin.min.css, line 1)

    Is something in WP files corrupted?

    @tara,

    Done! Your suggestion to enable debugging was great …it allowed me to isolate and correct the problem(s).

    There was a problem with an entry in the wp-config.php file …it was flagging a WP_MEMORY_LIMIT entry. Removed it and will use default.

    The other item flagged was a plugin —so, I deactivated it. Guess when I removed all plugins (as per my first post) ….I must have neglected to empty cache before doing a test.

    Site is back to normal —thank you a bunch for helping me resolve problem …I’m a little smarter now .
