Excellent plugin here, exactly what I’ve been looking for all day. I just have a slight major problem:

When I restrict access to any user or group, they don’t see my “No Access Message” or even the default message. The server just throws out this error:

    “Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.
Apache Server at spotfire.co.za Port 80″

This error only appears on the page I’ve restricted access to. It’s not ideal because I need a custom “No Access” message.

    Any thoughts?

Once again, thanks for the great plugin otherwise.

How are they getting to the URL if they don’t have access? Are you sending it out to them? If that is the case then I’m not sure why it’s not doing that actually. I’m away from my development machine at the moment but I can check on it later today and get back to you.

Please let me know if you’re wanting that custom no access message to show up in one of the pages within WordPress that lists posts (such as search results or a category listing page). That should be possible to have it show there as well but that isn’t how it’s coded right now so it would be a different request than what I mentioned above.

Thanks for the response. I’m actually using test accounts myself at the moment, and going directly to the link, to check that everything is working properly.

It’s just a regular post I’m trying to restrict access to, not a blog or category page or anything like that. It is a ‘custom post type’, but I don’t see why that should make a difference.

I can email or PM you the URL and login details, if you’d like to check it out for yourself?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

No, I think I know what’s going on, just wanted to be sure I knew what you were attempting to do before figuring out why it’s not working. It should remove it from any “listing” pages but if you access it directly like you’re doing it should show the message so I’ll check on that and get back to you. If I can’t replicate it on my local site then I may ask for login details for your site to check on things but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Updated to version 0.9.2 and that should be working now as I believe you wanted. Thanks for letting me know it wasn’t working properly. Please confirm that it’s working for you.

Excellent, let me know if you have other issues or suggestions, always looking to make things more usable and helpful for folks!

I just added your plugin and perhaps I missed something. I get the 404 error message when verses the no access message. Any ideas?
