@krealinestudio – Sorry to hear that. I pushed an update a few hours ago, but I tested before I pushed it. I also installed the plugin on our company site just now without any notices or issues.
Can you try deleting the plugin and reinstalling it, sounds like your copy got corrupted some how. With over 1k downloads today and only 1 report, that is the most likely scenario currently.
Same problem – when activating get “not valid header’ on a blank page. Tried both dashboard install and upload of the Zip from https://wordpress.org/plugins/content-control/
Deleted and re-installed several times.
Running WP 5.6.2 and PHP 7.4 on a web host
@stoodlee – Will repackage it and push a new update tomorrow just to be sure.
That said the only thing I can see as a possibility is that there is a /
in the plugin Description that wasn’t there before: https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?old_path=%2Fcontent-control%2Ftrunk&old=2480303&new_path=%2Fcontent-control%2Ftrunk&new=2480303&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=
The above is the entire changeset from the prior version that never had this reported.
Not sure if you can test that to see if that somehow interferes on some systems.
Hi, upon installation, do not activate plugin on the same page. Exit the page, go to all your installed plugins and activate from there. Works for me
Thanks @karen1990 that worked for me. I did try another download but still same message activating on install screen. Activated fine from All Plugins and works

Thanks @karen1990 and @stoodlee, that worked for me too. I had the same problem upon installing the plugin.
@stoodlee – Were you saying that you had the same issue with another plugin as well, but only on the Plugin Install screen, not the All Plugins screen.
I can confirm this behaviour. Activating plugin from the active plugins menu seems to work.
Some context:
our VPS has Ubuntu 18.04 OS, content served by Nginx 1.14.0, MariaDB 10.1.47, PHP 7.4. Nginx is configured for using fastcgi microcache.
If needed i could provide our nginx conf.
Thank you!
I’m looking for clarification whether this only happens for this plugin, or all plugins on your site. If any plugin you install has this issue, I think we can mark this resolved here and you would need to move it to a general WordPress support forum.
In general there is no way our code could work in one and fail in another on its own. If it activates successfully in the All Plugins screen, I would say the issue is not on our end, but rather something preventing the AJAX based activation.
Also I just tried and I wasn’t able to duplicate this on live sites just now, so again I think its pointing to an issue on your specific sites, likely a 3rd party conflict either in JS errors on that page, or maybe PHP errors during the AJAX event to activate it. Not a lot we can do in any of these cases though.
Hi @danieliser. Only this Plugin gave ‘not valid header’ when activating on the install screen. When I went to All Plugins menu and activated there it worked.
