The pages won't publish

  • The last three new pages I’ve tried to publish wont publish. I create the page then click “Publish” the page only saves itself as a draft. After too many clicks on the “Publish” button, two of the pages published. However, this third page wont budge! Need suggestions please. I included a link, but you won’t be able to see my problem, it’s in the backend.

  • Okay, the page finally published. But why is it giving me such a hard time?

This is happening again and again. I’ve clicked the button for my 4th page, like 20 times, it still won’t publish!

I would just like to add, that this has happened before right before WordPress comes out with a new version and tells me to update. So this started to happen with 3.4.2 and I updated to 3.5, however, this time the issue has not been resolved.

Did you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes or resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin. I guess its some kind of plugin conflict.

First deactivate all the plugins and reset the plugins folder and then switch to an unedited default theme.

@wp_spam, No I have not tried that.
@wpyogi, how do I reset the plugins? Will this cause my site to be down for any length of time.

Here is how to reset your plugins.

Yes, deactivating them will affect your site, but it’s basically the only troubleshooting way to sort out what is causing the problems with your site. And changing themes will definitely make your site look different. Try to do these steps at a time of day when your traffic is less busy.

Thanks, I’ll have to try that. However, I might have to wait days! Our new “issue” is in the process being done and we have the most traffic during this week of the month. 🙁

Well, that’s up to you as to weighing those things. You could put up a temporary page saying “under maintenance, please come back in a short while or something like that…” Or you could also make a copy of the site in a sub-directory and work on that version rather than the live copy.

How do I make a copy of the site?

If I reset the plugins, how long will the site be down? Also, how can I make a copy of my website?
