• Hello,

I have been trying to figure this out for 3 days now. Perhaps you all could help. I did a brand new fresh install of WP on my hosting service. I can sometimes log in and sometimes view the front page. Other times I randomly get “The page isn’t redirecting properly” and end up with a address bar that looks like this:

    http://www.statesidemarineelectronics.com/wp-admin/?from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@&from=@

Then I will randomly be able to access the admin again and home page again and while I am doing admin stuff I will randomly get the above again…

Any idea why this might be happening? it’s quite annoying…

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-setting your permalinks to default.

    Hi, thanks for the response.

“deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).”

Since it is a fresh brand new install, there are no active plugins, only the default unactivated ones that come with a fresh install.

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

That is the current theme since it’s a brand new install with nothing changed.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I have not tries this but the plugins folder is in the original default state to begin with.

    re-setting your permalinks to default.

They are already at default since it’s a fresh, brand spanking new install with absolutely nothing changes from install defaults.

This happens literally 2 minutes after a brand new from scratch install. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

the plugins folder is in the original default state to begin with.

Did you actually read the page at the link I posted? And you have installed plugins. You are currently using an ecommerce plugin at the very least!

Yes, I read it. Like I said. This is happening on a fresh brand new from scratch install! Yes, I currently have ecommerce plugin. It was happening before I installed that. This plugin was installed after I posted the OP. It was still happening on a fresh, brand new, nothing changed install. I have completely uninstalled WP and reinstalled WP several times since the OP. Every time I still get random error above even when nothing at all is changed. The state of the current install isn’t really relevant to my OP. It happens on a fresh brand new from scratch install.

It was happening before I installed that.

Then uninstall it and reset the plugins folder as suggested.

I don’t understand. When I uninstall WP, the plugins folder ceases to exist. And when I reinstall it, it gets a brand new default one. You are saying to reset the brand new default plugins folder on a fresh 1 minute old WP install?

Agreed. And the site you are running now includes at least 1 active ecommerce plugin. The steps I gave above are part of the basic WordPress troubleshooting process and are all reversible. If you cannot work with us, then I’m afraid that we cannot help you.

You don’t seem to understand that it happens on a fresh install… What I was running with when you checked is irrelevant. I am no longer running with ANY plugins whatsoever with a brand new, fresh, nothing at all changed, WP install, still happens. You keep ignoring the fact that it happens with everything at default, nothing at all changed whatsoever. If you ignore this, then yes, you can not help…

If we cannot see the issue, then we cannot help you.

The issue is stated in the OP and like I said, it is randomly happening.

Then can we please see the site using an unmodified version of Twenty Eleven with no active plugins?

unmodified version of Twenty Eleven with no active plugins

    Thank you for any assistance.

Do you still have a problem in the Admin area of the site? If so, can you rename the .htaccess file in your root domain folder?
