Just happened to notice this morning, that four of my pages now have the following message in my Yoast analysis results:

Link keyphrase: You’re linking to another page with the words you want this page to rank for. Don’t do that!

Problem is, I cant see where the problem is.

Can we have an explanation on how link keyphrases work and their relation to the keyWORDS option, which in my mind was far better.

Also, please don’t add a link to THIS ARTICLE or THIS ONE as neither of them make any sense whatsoever.

Changing the ‘keyphrase’ from ‘keyword’ looks to be a huge white elephant to me, but I’ll plod on until Yoast realise they’ve made a right cock-up!

Solved for now, though not an ideal solution – I rolled back the plugin to the 8.4 version, the last working version where keyphrases were NOT used in favour of using key-WORDS

We changed the term ‘keyword’ to ‘keyphrase’ because keyword implies a singular (a single word), whereas several words implies a phrase. As for the warning you received, The warning message of ‘You’re linking to another page with the focus keyphrase’ occurs when you have a link on your page that is using the focus keyphrase for the link’s text. This link can be either an internal or external link. We also have a detailed description of what this warning means here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/warning-youre-linking-to-another-page-with-the-focus-keyword/. To resolve this, you would need to modify the link text so it does not contain the focus keyphrase or move the link to an adjacent word or phrase.
