The new Hueman needs beta testers

    Hi !

    The new version of Hueman is ready for beta tests.

    This updated version is compliant with the latest WordPress theme repository requirements, in particular the fact that all theme options must now be set from the WordPress customizer.
    Moving the options to the customizer has been a challenging development work, especially for the dynamic settings like sidebars and social settings. I hope it will result in a user friendly interface, in line with the initial creator and designer ( @alxmedia ) philosophy!
    You can apply for the beta tests on this page and submit your results here. You’ll receive the download link of the new version and some instructions for the tests.

    You don’t need to be a developer or a WordPress guru to test the beta version, any contribution will be welcomed and useful !

    Great to see some progress. Can you write a bit about (visible) changes for those that can’t test the beta right now?
    A look at the Github repo recently didn’t show much activity, so I was positively surprised that there is in fact development going on

    @nikeo, I posted this in it’s own thread but to be PHP7 compatible the constructors for alx-posts.php, alx-tabs.php, and alx-video.php in the functions/widgets/ need to be rewritten from the class name to __construct(). Looks like they are still using the class name in 3.0.1.

    The codes on https://github.com/presscustomizr/hueman is version 2.2.5
    Not the beta 3.0.1 version. The development of version 3+ is not hosted there. To get beta 3.0.1 Please download from v3.0.1 here

    Thank you for the update @nikeo. Good to see that the work on version 3.0 is progressing.

    I’m using the “full” version of Hueman. From reading the blog post (presscustomizr.com/introducing-hueman-v3-0/) I gather that the new 3.0 version will include all the “full” Hueman theme features except the elegant and easy-to-use Share bar.

    Can you or someone else confirm that users need to find and install their own Share plugins if/when they upgrade to Hueman 3.0? There are sooo many plugins to choose from, which is not always a good thing, hehe. I have the impression that many such plugins can seriously slow down the speed and performance of a website. Maybe the theme author could suggest a nice, “light” and free Share plugin when Hueman 3.0 is released…?

    Anyway, thanks a lot for keeping this great, free theme alive!

    thanks @yallaman. The Share bar will be part of the Hueman Addon plugins that I’ll release in a few days.
    This way you’ll be able to switch from your previous “full” version of Hueman to the current one on WordPress.org. You’ll only need to install the Hueman Addon plugin to get all the missing features : advanced body background, shortcodes and sharre bar.

    @thirupareddy thanks for this feedback. This has been added as potential improvement on github.

    @thirupareddy plenty of plugins out there that will add any number of schema code as you wish (e.g. Yoast SEO, etc) no need to cram this into a theme as well, I think

    @nikeo how’s the progress coming along towards a final release? 😉

    The current version is v3.0.6.
