  • Hi, I am very bad with technical things when setting up softwares like WordPress however;

    I persistantly get this error:
    “The MySQL Database could not be selected.”

    I set up my first wordpress and website and domain with bluehost, then I went to coolhandle where I used the same domain and set up everything, through coolhandle i am accessing cPanel and I am trying to install WordPress and it contiues to show me the error “The MySQL Database could not be selected.” I don’t know what to do. I have read through the forums and most people downgrade and I tried and it did not work, eveytime I try to install any version of wordpress I get this error.

    Here’s some very general advice. First, make sure the database exists and the DB user has access to the database. Both are done in cPanel. And second, you should install WordPress using the package downloaded from this site. “One-click” installs from the likes of Softaculous and Installatron oftentimes contain modified versions of WordPress.

    Otherwise, I suggest you contact Coolhandle support since this does not appear to be an issue with WordPress.
