Support » Themes and Templates » the morning after… thumbnail images

  • Hi folks… first post so forgive me. For the life of me I can’t work out how thumbnail images can be associated so that they appear next to posts (under Latest Articles on the demo) – I assumed this was by inserting them as a ‘Featured Image’ but no luck. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

  • This is not a complete answer but will get you closer:

Inserting them as a featured image is correct, but the theme has to specifically output them in the template file used to display your latest articles page (maybe index.php or home.php), using something like the_post_thumbnail()

thankyou Naomi – i’ll take a look at that, though I suspect it’s something very simple – I seem to be the only person who’s not figured this out.

Again, thankyou for taking the time to reply.

WordPress › Get the Image « WordPress Plugins is a very good plugin to implement thumbnails. Float the thumbnail to the left and your excerpt to the right in a div.

ok… so this is driving me to drink (admittedly it’s a short drive) – I can get thumbnails to appear in the main column, but not beside articles in the ‘Recent Posts’ column.

Help. I’m Scottish and so the temptation to drink doesn’t need much encouragement… 😉
