I found that the canonical url will use “Plain” URL, that mean it will use domain.com/?p=1234
but I am using doamin.com/year/month/title as my URL.
In facebook there’s an error in URL debug tools – Circular redirect path detected

How to make the canonical url use post url ?

    Thanks so much
    Sorry for my bad English

    Hi Enterpr1se,

When creating a new page, the placeholder for the Canonical URL will indeed show the “Plain” URL in the metabox.
This is because it’s completely dynamic when creating a new post, and such (JavaScript) listeners haven’t yet been put in place.

After you publish the post, the Canonical URL should be as intended. Could you confirm this is the case?

If you still encounter issues, could you please share your website’s URL with me?
If you’d rather keep your website URL secret from WordPress.org, please contact me here with the queried URL.

    Cheers!

    Hi Sybre,

The plugin does not change the dynamic url to the real link of the post.
This is the example page Misfit Ray review
The canonical URL will not change even I type the link in the field “Custom Canonical URL”.

    Hi Enterpr1se,

Could you share your permalink settings with me?
It’s found in /wp-admin/options-permalink.php and it should look something like:

    /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/

If I can match that, I can test it out :).
    Cheers!

    Hi Enterpr1se,

I just tested it out with both a scheduled post and your permalink settings… alas, no issue has been found.

On the website you linked, the canonical URL output by The SEO Framework is correct.
I see you’re using another plugin for social meta (which is good); but the canonical URL from The SEO Framework and its social metadata URLs are fetched from exactly the same object. This means it’s impossible that they differ, which also means they aught to be correct, if The SEO Framework were to output social data.

Looking at your social metadata from the other plugin, I also see no issues.

I can only conclude from all this that the issue you were or are facing was or is a temporarily caching issue.
However, if you still notice or believe there’s an issue going on; feel free to let me know any more details!

Thanks and have a wonderful weekend 🙂

It seems the canonical url will be fixed if I update the post again.
I had disable the social plugin, please try again, thanks so much

    Hi Enterpr1se,

I see you’re using multiple caching solutions; and I believe this is messing things up as they’re purposely disabling WordPress features to keep things lean.

I notice there’s an inconsistency with the canonical URL output (mixed pretty and non-pretty… which is very odd and couldn’t possibly be caused within The SEO Framework as it’s cached internally).

I believe you should opt-in for a single all-in-one caching solutions, like W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache or WP Rocket. As well as reduce the amount of SEO plugins.

    Best of luck 🙂

    Hi Sybre,

Actually I don’t have any PHP-base cache solution installed, I just use nginx-redis cache for wordpress only.
I will try to figure out what happen, because it works before, all old post work perfectly. It seems only have problem since last 2 updates
