    Hello there 👋

Something happened, I really don’t know what, but the plugin stop working. I tried many times to uninstall it and install it again, clean cache but it didn’t make any difference.

I installed the plugin again today, and its still acting odd. When I open the edit menu of the theme (ColorMag Pro), seems to be working. When I open another browser, without logging in into the admin panel, and you click on the widget on the top right corner – it changes the color of the font. I guess its applying the dark mode only to some elements.

I can say, I am not very technical, that the frontend dark mode is not working. Everything is fine with the back end. I will attach pictures to show the result. The website is: https://galaxyleaks.bg

    editing-mode
    normal-mode

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi, I’m sorry about the issue you are facing.
Waiting a reply from the support team may I ask if the issue happen also with the previous plugin version 5.2.6? You can install the previous version (after taking a full backup of your website) from the bottom of this page or using the plugin WP Rollback

The new plugin version seems better in performance but has some visual issues also for me. I’m waiting (as you) to receive support from the team 🙂

Thank you for the replay and the idea. I tested what you suggested. I even tried couple of the old versions of the plugin, but the result reminds the same. What I noticed as well is when you refresh the page, you can see the dark mode for a couple of seconds then its gone.

Do you think that its possible, to be conflicting with other plugins?

Can be a conflict with a plugin. It’s a big work but maybe you need try to disable plugins, maybe all and then see if the issue persist. Before do that I suggest to have a full backup (files and database) of your website.

Plugins get updated and sometimes an update cause new issues and conflicts.
When I experienced this and I don’t find the cause I need disable everything, then test in incognito mode. You can try to leave just the Dark Mode plugin active then if the issue is not present try to activate one by one plugin by testing in incognito for each time you enable a plugin.

The WP Dark mode version 5.2.6 has been released on 6 FEB 2025 so I suppose you are experiencing the issue recently do to another plugin or theme update.

Check also if you have not added any custom CSS roles in the theme or plugins. This is my suggestion.

Thank you very much for your assistance! Everything that you suggesting is quite logical. I will try, when I have more free time, to see how it goes. I apologies if its very dumb question, but can somehow track what is happening in a background? Perhaps from the developer console in Chrome or with some plugin, to check all the errors in WordPress and plugins? I am not very technical.

I can just see some CSS propriety that seems asking ignore the dark mode template. I don’t know why you have this and what is the cause. I’m sorry but by the web console I’m unable to find currently the cause of the issue. I can see just, as I told, some CSS rules to ignore the dark mode theme.

    I’m not a developer so it’s just a supposition.

    Good luck!

I tried on a test website and indeed the plugin is fully working. Turns out its conflicting with other plugin that I have. It’s too much work to try to switch them one by one, plus I don’t want to break some other functionality.

So, what I did is to try other plugins. Turn out, some of them does not work as well. However, I found one that is fully working. It does not provide the rich functionality of WP Dark Mode, but still doing the job.

If someone else having the same issue, try – DarkMySite.

I’m happy to read you find a dark plugin that works in your case. Just suggest prudence as I can see this plugin found by you is 6 months old and in the forum support I can read a not nice topic about the security. Seems the plugin support never released a fix to for that topic in a long time.

Wordfence is a security plugin that scan and protect the website informing on potential security issue.
From the support topic seems that security plugin that I also use, found and alerted about a potential security issue.

I see a fix has not been released in a short time so can be a false positive but I prefer stay on a plugin updated and where the support are active.
