    My Experience with the Free Version – A Heads-Up for New Users

    I recently used the free version of this platform and initially found it very smooth to install and set up—it worked flawlessly at the start.

    However, I ran into an unexpected limitation. There was no clear notification about a cap on form submissions, and I assumed the free version would cover my needs for a small event. With fewer than 20 submissions, email notifications suddenly stopped without warning. This caused a disruption right in the middle of the event planning process and pushed me to upgrade to the Pro version under pressure.

    To be fair, I should have checked the limits more thoroughly, but a reminder or visible indicator as the cap approaches would have made a huge difference. It’s a good product, but this part of the experience could definitely be improved.

    I hope this helps others plan better—and maybe the developers can consider adding a heads-up feature in future updates.

    While it may seem that you ran into a limit with submissions, there is actually no limit on how many email notifications can be sent from WPForms.

    This random cut-off is most likely to happen when emails are being sent as unauthenticated. Emails sent from your web server (including WordPress) aren’t authenticated by default and are merely sent on behalf of your email address. This lack of verification is a key reason some emails end up in Spam or fail to deliver.

    The best way to resolve this is by setting up SMTP for your emails. This involves using an SMTP plugin, which ensures emails are sent securely and are verified.

    Since you have already been using the WP Mail SMTP plugin this is properly configured, emails should be sent consistently, and deliverability issues will become a thing of the past.
