Good plugin, but I don’t understand why you need to upload a new file. I don’t understand why it wouldn’t be possible to replace a file with one that was uploaded before.

I would be grateful for this feature.

    Thank you.

    Hi @michalrama,

I’m not sure I understand your question, but Enable Media Replace’s goal is to allow you to replace your media files with new ones. For example, you uploaded a picture 3 months ago, but today you take a better picture with your camera and you want to replace the old one. That’s why one “needs to upload a new file”, because that’s the purpose of this plugin.

If I didn’t answer your question, just let me know.

    Hello @sixaxis

It doesn’t always have to be that way. The representation at the computer is better. There, overwriting can occur only if the files have the same name. However, sometimes I need to “export” a new document to pdf, but the program gives it a default name. Or take new photos, but they also have a default name. However, I will do this by copying the files to the destination folder and modifying their name to overwrite the old files.

And that’s what it’s all about. Maybe you need to change one photo for another that is already on the web. And instead of just rewriting it, you have to download the photo and then rewrite it by uploading it, which doesn’t make sense.

    Hi michalrama,

If all you need to do is change the name of the picture, there are lots of plugins out there that can do this, like Phoenix Media Rename.

What our plugin does is enable the replace functionality for images, as the name suggests.

I hope that clarifies it 😉

If I can jump in, I have the same or similar question. I need to replace an image throughout my site with one that is already in the library. The image to be replaced is used on many pages, and the replacement image is also used in some pages already.

If I have to re-upload the replacement image, then I have two identical copies of it, one used in some places, the other used elsewhere. That would be a mess.

    Hello @sixaxis

I understand and thank you for recommending a good plugin.
